Project Overview:

Berner Construction, Incorporated (Berner) was contracted by Koman Governmental Solutions, LLC (formerly H&S Environmental Services, Inc.) for the repair of the groundwater extraction well vaults and replacement of process piping and instrumentation for the groundwater collection and air stripper system as part of long-term operations and maintenance of the groundwater treatment system at the Former Naval Air Warfare Center in Warminster, PA.

The groundwater treatment system has been in operation for over 20 years with no major upgrades.  Many of the valves, check valves, and sample ports were not functional.  Additionally, the pump foundations and bases were deteriorated beyond a useable condition.

The scope of work for the project included installation of a concrete skirt around two existing vaults and the demolition of existing deteriorated piping from the equalization tank, the air stripper system, and the plant discharge.  As part of the overhaul, Berner replaced the pump bases and foundations, along with new piping, valves, gauges, and sample ports.  New and additional pipe supports were added as well.  The salvageable equipment pads, pumps, piping, platforms, flow meters, and anti-syphon materials were re-installed.
