Water Supply and Treatment System
How We Helped:Provide labor, material, tools, and equipment for the installation of submersible water supply well pumps and well accessories; construction of a water treatment facility; erection of an elevated water tower; and installation of individual residential and commercial water services
In response to historical trichloroethylene (TCE) contaminated in the local water wells, PA Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) initiated a project to install three groundwater supply wells, construct the water treatment system and supply potable water to the local residential and commercial community. Berner Construction was awarded the contract from PADEP for the construction of the water treatment facility, supply wells, elevated water tower and residential and commercial connections to the new system.
Berner’s scope of work includes the construction of a 625 gallon per minute water treatment plant involving the following:
- 5,500 feet of 6- and 8-inch raw water piping
- Electric and sanitary sewer utility construction
- Water Treatment including water softening, nitrate removal, and disinfection.
- Construction of a 5,000 square foot treatment building and associated concrete tanks
- Installation of access roads and permanent storm water features.
Berner is responsible for the construction of three supply wells including submersible pumps and controls, access roads, power, and communication lines.
Berner is also completing the construction of a 500,000 gallon elevated steel water tower, approximately 150 feet in height including the tower foundation, access road, fencing, and permanent storm water features.
Finally, Berner will provide water services to approximately 400 residential and commercial properties within the municipal water distribution system.
